The reolink rlc 1240a 12mp vandal proof outdoor poe security camera delivers 12MP Ultra HD clarity with a 145° wide-angle lens. Its IP67 weatherproof and IK10 vandal-resistant build ensures durability for fixed outdoor sites. You get smart detection for persons, vehicles, and animals, plus color night vision via warm light. The PoE connection simplifies installation with a single cable for power and data. However, this model is non-PT, meaning you cannot remotely pan or tilt the view. The fixed angle may limit coverage for larger or irregularly shaped areas.
These alternatives were chosen because their specs overlap with the original, offering similar resolutions or connectivity while addressing different needs. Some provide pan-tilt-zoom capabilities for flexible monitoring. Others feature different form factors like bullet or dome styles. You might prefer a compact size or specific zoom ranges. Each option maintains PoE connectivity for reliable power and video transmission. You can select based on whether you need optical zoom, local storage, or a different physical footprint. The list covers fixed and moving options to match your specific surveillance requirements.
Our top pick: REOLINK 12MP Wide-Angle Vandal-Proof PoE Camera.
How these alternatives compare
REOLINK Outdoor 12MP PoE Dome Camera
The REOLINK RLC-1224A is a dome-style alternative that shares the same 12MP resolution and PoE connectivity as the original. It features a wider physical footprint at 7.09 inches in length compared to the bullet-style original. This model also includes color night vision and smart detection for persons, vehicles, and animals. It lacks the IK10 vandal-proof rating of the RLC-1240A, making it less suitable for high-risk areas. You should choose this option if you prefer a discreet dome form factor and do not require maximum physical resistance to tampering. It offers similar image clarity with a different aesthetic profile.
Reolink 12MP Spotlight Outdoor Bullet Camera
The REOLINK RLC-1212A is a bullet camera that matches the original’s 12MP resolution and PoE power. It provides color night vision and smart detection features similar to the RLC-1240A. However, it does not carry the IK10 vandal-proof certification, which is a key differentiator for the original model. The dimensions are slightly different, with a length of 7.72 inches and a width of 4.8 inches. This camera is a solid choice if you need high-resolution outdoor monitoring but do not require the ruggedized construction of the vandal-proof version. It maintains the same video quality while offering a standard bullet design.
Anpviz 8MP 5X Optical Zoom PoE PTZ Camera
The Anpviz PTZ camera offers 8MP resolution, which is lower than the 12MP of the original, but includes 5x optical zoom. This allows for detailed remote viewing of distant objects, a capability the fixed-lens RLC-1240A lacks. It supports pan and tilt movements, providing flexible coverage, whereas the original is a non-PT fixed camera. The Anpviz model is heavier at 1.5 pounds and has a rounder dome shape. You should pick this alternative if detailed zoom and remote tracking are more important to you than maximum static resolution and vandal-proof durability. It trades raw pixel count for versatile positioning and magnification.
Vonnision 8MP 5X Optical Zoom PTZ Dome Camera
The Vonnision 8MP PTZ Dome Camera provides 5x optical zoom and motion detection, differing significantly from the fixed 12MP original. It lacks the IK10 vandal-proof rating but offers flexible pan and tilt controls for targeted monitoring. The resolution is lower at 8MP, but the optical zoom compensates by allowing you to magnify specific areas. Its compact dome design measures 4.7 inches in width and height. This option is best for users who need to track subjects or inspect details remotely rather than covering a wide area with high static resolution. It gives up the original’s rugged build and higher megapixel count for zoom flexibility.
Anpviz 5-Inch 4K 5X Optical Zoom Dome Camera
The Anpviz 5-Inch 4K PTZ Dome Camera includes a built-in 5-inch screen, a feature absent in the original RLC-1240A. It offers 8MP resolution with 5x optical zoom, enabling detailed local viewing without relying solely on external displays. The camera supports local SD storage, providing an alternative to NVR recording. It is heavier at 1.5 pounds and has a larger profile than the original. This model suits users who want immediate visual feedback and zoom capabilities on-site. You should consider it if local monitoring and optical zoom are priorities over the original’s 12MP clarity and vandal-proof construction.
VIKYLIN 8MP PoE PTZ Outdoor Camera
The VIKYLIN 8MP PoE PTZ Outdoor Camera features 5x optical zoom and motion detection, contrasting with the fixed 12MP lens of the original. It lacks auto-tracking, which limits continuous monitoring capabilities compared to other PTZ models. The resolution is lower at 8MP, but the zoom allows for detailed inspection of distant areas. It has a similar dome shape and PoE connectivity. This camera is a practical choice for large outdoor areas where zoom is needed but auto-tracking is not required. It sacrifices the original’s high resolution and vandal-proof rating for versatile positioning and magnification options.
