Who it fits

Key specs explained

Channels: 8 Channels

This DVR supports up to eight camera inputs. You can connect multiple cameras to monitor different areas like driveways, doors, and yards simultaneously. This capacity suits larger homes or small offices where broad coverage is needed. If you only have one or two cameras, this unit may offer more inputs than you require. Consider your total camera count before buying.

Video Resolution: 1080p Full HD

The system records video at 1080p resolution. This clarity helps you identify faces, license plates, and other important details in the footage. It is suitable for evidence gathering or general monitoring. Lower resolutions may blur these details, making identification difficult. If you need sharp images for security purposes, 1080p is a practical standard to look for in a DVR.

Hard Drive Capacity: 1TB

The unit comes with a 1TB hard drive installed. This allows for extended local recording without needing immediate cloud storage. You can store footage for weeks or months depending on camera count and settings. This is useful for users who prefer keeping data on-site. Larger drives hold more video, while smaller ones fill up faster. Check if the drive is included in the price.

Model: 84680H

This is the specific model number for this Swann DVR. It helps you find exact replacement parts, manuals, or compatible accessories online. Using the correct model ensures you buy the right cables or power supplies. It also distinguishes this unit from other Swann products with different features. Keep this number handy for customer support or future upgrades.

The black finish helps it blend into home or office environments. It looks like standard consumer electronics rather than industrial gear.

The listing does not provide weight data. You will need to check the shipping box for that. The build appears to be a standard plastic enclosure. There are no visible screen or buttons mentioned in the specs. You likely control it via a connected monitor and mouse. This design keeps the unit simple. It reduces points of failure. The focus is on internal components like the 1TB hard drive and 8-channel processor.

This physical form factor suits discreet installation. You can place it out of sight. The size allows for easy relocation if needed. It is not a wall-mounted device based on these dimensions. You will need a flat surface. The compact design means it does not dominate your space. It is built for utility over aesthetics. The black color is practical for hiding dust. The overall build is straightforward and functional.

Setup And Everyday Use Guide

Setting up this DVR involves connecting up to eight compatible cameras to the eight available channels. The unit records locally to the included 1TB hard drive. This storage capacity allows for continuous recording for over a year, depending on your camera count and settings. You can also save footage directly to a personal Dropbox account for cloud backup. This dual storage option adds flexibility for your security needs. The device is designed for a set-and-forget workflow. Once connected and configured, it operates without constant intervention. Daily use centers on reviewing recorded video. The 1080p Full HD resolution ensures you can discern important details like faces and colors. This clarity is essential for identifying individuals or events in your footage. The system includes smart search features to help you locate specific clips quickly. You do not need to watch hours of video manually. The search tools streamline the review process. Customer support is available via email or Amazon messages for setup or operational challenges. Swann also provides protection against factory defects. This support structure assists with initial configuration and any warranty inquiries. Before You Buy This DVR

You need to buy compatible cameras separately. This unit supports up to eight inputs, so ensure your chosen cameras match the connection type. Verify that the cameras support 1080p resolution to match the DVR’s recording capability. The 1TB hard drive offers significant local storage, but you should monitor space usage if you record continuously. Regular maintenance includes checking the drive health and ensuring proper ventilation. The compact black chassis fits easily in most utility spaces. This model suits users who want local control without monthly fees. It is ideal for small businesses or large homes requiring broad coverage. If you prefer cloud-only solutions or remote access without local setup, this device may not be the best fit. Consider your storage needs carefully. The included drive allows for over a year of recording, depending on settings. Plan your camera placement to maximize the eight-channel capacity. This system is a practical choice for those who value evidence quality and local data ownership.
