Who it fits

Key specs for this camera

Power Source: Rechargeable battery

This camera runs on a rechargeable battery pack rather than hardwired power. You insert the battery and connect to Wi-Fi for setup. This allows flexible placement on flat surfaces or walls without needing nearby outlets. You must monitor charge levels and recharge periodically. This suits users who want easy installation in areas without power access, unlike wired cameras that require constant electrical connection.

Night Vision Type: Color night vision

The device captures video in color during low-light conditions, not just black and white. This helps you identify clothing colors or vehicle details at night. Standard night vision often loses color data. This feature benefits buyers who need clear identification of subjects in dim environments. It provides more context than monochrome footage, making it easier to recognize specific events after the fact.

Placement: Outdoor

This camera is built for exterior use and can also work for business security. It withstands typical outdoor elements, though it is rated weather-resistant rather than fully waterproof. You can mount it on walls or place it on flat surfaces. This makes it suitable for porches, driveways, or storefronts. Compare this with indoor-only models if you need versatile placement in various environments.

Smart Assistant: Alexa

The camera integrates with Alexa-enabled devices for voice control. You can hear notifications on Echo Dot devices or launch video feeds on Echo Show screens. This allows hands-free monitoring and custom alerts. It works with select Alexa devices to streamline your smart home routine. If you already use Alexa for other smart home tasks, this integration adds convenience without requiring a separate app for basic viewing.

Before You Buy This Camera

This camera runs on a rechargeable battery. You will need to remove and recharge it periodically. Plan for this maintenance routine before purchasing. The device connects to your Wi-Fi network. Verify your signal strength is strong at the mounting location. Weak signals cause connection drops. You must use the Ring app to view live video. The app requires a compatible smartphone or tablet. Check that your operating system meets the app requirements. This camera works with Alexa devices. You can hear notifications on Echo Dot or launch video on Echo Show. Confirm your smart home devices are compatible. A Ring Protect subscription is sold separately. You need it to save video clips. Without it, you only see live views.
