How these alternatives compare
Amcrest 4K Outdoor PoE Bullet Camera
The Amcrest 4K Outdoor PoE Bullet Camera offers 8MP resolution, which is significantly higher than the Lorex U3’s 2K+ output. This provides sharper details for identifying faces or license plates at a distance. Both units share PoE connectivity and IP67 weatherproofing for reliable outdoor use. However, the Amcrest model does not list Color Night Vision or AI detection features like the Lorex. You should choose this Amcrest option if you prioritize maximum video clarity and rugged weather resistance over smart alerts and color imaging. It is a solid choice for users who already have PoE infrastructure and want superior resolution without relying on software-based detection.
Amcrest 5MP PoE AI Bullet Camera
This Amcrest 5MP PoE AI Bullet Camera provides a middle ground between resolution and cost. Its 5MP sensor delivers better clarity than the Lorex U3’s 2K+ resolution. It includes Human Detection AI and Color Night Vision, matching the Lorex smart features. The Lorex model distinguishes itself with active deterrence lights and listen-in audio, which this Amcrest unit lacks. The Amcrest camera is wider, measuring 7.59 inches in length compared to the Lorex’s 4.07 inches. Pick this alternative if you want AI filtering and color night vision but prefer a more budget-friendly wired solution. You should consider this 2-Pack if you need to monitor a broader area like a driveway or perimeter. It is best for users who want two cameras with smart detection and color imaging. The Lorex remains better for single-camera setups requiring active deterrence and two-way audio communication.
