Looking Beyond the Amcrest 4K PoE AI Bullet? 6 Alternatives Worth a Look

How each alternative compares

Amcrest 5MP PoE AI Bullet Camera

The Amcrest 5MP PoE AI Bullet Camera offers a lower resolution than the original 4K model, providing 5MP clarity instead. It retains the PoE power source and bullet form factor, ensuring similar wired stability. You get human detection and color night vision, but the field of view is narrower due to the smaller sensor size. This camera is lighter and more compact, making it easier to mount in tight spaces. If you need wide 4K coverage, stick with the original. However, if you prefer a simpler setup with solid AI alerts and do not need the highest pixel count, this budget-friendly option provides reliable performance for outdoor monitoring.

Amcrest 4K Outdoor PoE Bullet Camera 2-Pack

This 4K Outdoor PoE Bullet Camera 2-Pack matches the original in resolution and power source, offering identical 4K clarity and PoE connectivity. It shares the same bullet form factor and human detection features. The main difference lies in the specific lens tuning and night vision calibration, which may vary slightly in color reproduction. You get a two-camera pack, which is ideal for covering multiple entry points simultaneously. If you want to expand your coverage area without changing your power infrastructure, this bundle is a practical choice. It provides the same wide-angle surveillance capabilities, ensuring consistent monitoring across your property with reliable wired connections and smart detection alerts.

Amcrest 4K 8MP PoE Bullet AI Camera

The Amcrest 4K 8MP PoE Bullet AI Camera upgrades the resolution from 4K to 8MP, delivering significantly higher detail for identification purposes. It maintains the PoE power source and bullet design, ensuring compatibility with your existing cabling. The 129-degree field of view remains wide, covering large areas effectively. You gain sharper images for recognizing faces and license plates, which is crucial for high-security zones. However, the higher resolution may require more bandwidth and storage capacity. If your priority is maximum detail and precise identification over standard 4K clarity, this 8MP model is the superior choice. It offers enhanced AI detection capabilities for wired outdoor surveillance with superior image fidelity.

Ring Outdoor Cam 4K Pro Plug-In

The Ring Outdoor Cam 4K Pro Plug-In differs significantly by using a plug-in power source instead of PoE, requiring a nearby electrical outlet. It offers 4K resolution but lacks the AI human detection features found in the Amcrest models, relying instead on general motion detection. The form factor is distinct, designed for wall mounting with a focus on high-resolution zoom capabilities. You get detailed long-range monitoring, which is useful for tracking activity from a distance. If you prefer wireless convenience and have accessible power outlets, this camera provides excellent zoom and clarity. However, if you need smart AI alerts and PoE integration, the original Amcrest camera is a better fit for comprehensive security coverage.

Ctronics 5MP 30X Optical Zoom Dome Camera

The Ctronics 5MP 30X Optical Zoom Dome Camera switches from a bullet to a dome form factor, offering a different aesthetic and viewing angle. It uses wireless connectivity instead of PoE, providing flexibility in placement without running Ethernet cables. The 30x optical zoom allows for detailed long-range monitoring, which the original camera cannot match. You get human detection and night vision, but the resolution is lower at 5MP. This camera is ideal for large outdoor areas where zooming in on distant objects is essential. If you need wireless installation and powerful zoom capabilities, this dome camera is a strong alternative. However, if you prioritize wired stability and wide-angle coverage, the PoE bullet models remain the better choice.

Arlo Pro 3 Wireless 2K Floodlight Camera

The Arlo Pro 3 Wireless 2K Floodlight Camera uses battery power and wireless connectivity, offering complete freedom from wiring constraints. It provides 2K HDR video, which is lower resolution than the original 4K model, but includes an integrated floodlight for color night vision. The 160-degree field of view is wider than the original, covering more area. You get smart home integration and motion alerts, but lack the AI human detection features of the Amcrest camera. This option is best for users who value wireless installation and added lighting over high-resolution clarity. If you need a versatile camera with built-in illumination and easy setup, this floodlight camera is a practical choice, though it sacrifices some image detail.
